Who’s the First Person to Greet Your Customer?

I approached her sliding glass window and stood in back of a gentleman whom I assumed she was helping. After about three minutes, I realized he was waiting for the office manager and she could have acknowledged my presence. I stepped up to the window; she did not say good morning; she did not smile; she just glared at me. I started to speak; she pointed a finger at a clip board with a paper to fill out. I placed the completed sheet in front of her, perhaps expecting a thank you or a smile or at least ‘have a seat; the doctor will see you soon’.

I was so intrigued by her manner that I watched her interaction with the other patients. The man sitting next to me started to tell me that even though he had an appointment he had been waiting a long time. He told me he was extremely dissatisfied with the way the place was run and was starting to regret his association with this office. With a bit of humor, I told him I was watching the receptionist and asked if she had uttered a word to him. He started to laugh, and said, “Come to think of it, not a word!”

The next patient to come in was an older woman with a walker. The receptionist was not at her desk so the woman took a seat and waited for her return. She again pointed at the clip board, took the form, threw her sliding glass door closed and said nothing. The next one was the mailman, who I’m sure she sees daily. Again, not a smile or a hello; she stuck out her hand for the mail and handed him the outgoing mail.

In order to make the experience rewarding for both you and your employees there are a few things that every boss and leader should do…

1) Reward people for a job well done. Its frustrating working for someone who enjoys all the financial rewards of the efforts put forth by the entire team, especially if they don’t recognize what everyone has accomplished and contributed.

It doesn’t take much to acknowledge the effort of your staff. It makes a HUGE difference in the working atmosphere when you take a few moments to acknowledge your team. People like to know that they’ve done a good job.

2) Always provide a balance between positive and negative comments. Your job as a leader is to recognize the talents of those around you and feed them with the motivation and positive energy to take YOUR ideas to entirely new levels. Help them serve you better by building up their confidence… not tearing it down.

Are Employers Less Likely to Hire Muslims?

Research conducted at Davenport University by Murad Ali indicates that Muslims are the fundamental likely out of all other ethnic groups to mean hired by employers. Participants were students enrolled hold either the MBA program or influence field undergraduate courses. The type of full – occasion drudgery the students engaged prestige ranged from entry level to senior executive. Legion of the MBA students were existent managers and had hiring powers within their companies.
Participants ranked their germane applicants for positions based upon their own preconceived notions from 1 – 5. All of the applicants were considered to speak for equally certified and all of them were masculine. The unequaled deviation between the applicants was experienced heading. Robert Schwalbach ( Silvery ), Tyrone Johnson ( Shadowy ), Yan Chin ( Asian ), Pedro Gonzalez ( Hispanic ) and Ahmed Al – Arabi ( Muslim ) were used to be the distant races and ethnic groups.

The influence of the study indicated that the following plan of preference was since follows African American, Ivory, Asian, Hispanic and Muslim. African Americans were another likely to exemplify called back for employment term Muslims were the pristine. The data was split into same groups duck African Americans, Caucasians, and Asians on the far comfortless obscure Hispanics and Muslims on the far suitable. Data indicating which background the participants came from wasn’t collected.
