A Right Media Mix Can Make the Difference

Saturday, September 25th, 2010

Branding is no longer simply about visual appeal (or the cherry in the apple pie example, as given in my earlier article). Unfortunately, many graphic design firms who position themselves as advertising agencies believe that branding your corporate identity is all about developing great looking visual solutions.

However, there is much much more to branding than just looking good. Particularly in this web 2.0 era, where a powerful web presence has become a vital ingredient of your branding strategy, developing the right media mix holds the key to building a powerful brand equity.

In other words, a right media mix would mean:

• Creative design solutions (the design, color, and content of your ads, marketing collateral and website enhance your brand equity, attract customers, and generate sales)

• Web development (every product/service worth its name has a web presence these days, some have truly interactive, animated sites encouraging customer involvement),

• Viral marketing (vitally important in today’s age of social networking, tagging, podcasting, blogs, forums, wikis and what have you)

• Television commercial production, print media advertising (traditional media cannot be overlooked)

• Strategic films (have become necessary elements of roadshows, exibhitions and other promotional campaigns)

Are You Thinking Too Small and Dooming Your Small Business To Failure?

Friday, September 24th, 2010

One problem that many small business owners run into is simply thinking too small. I often have readers writing to me asking for helping getting their business ideas off the ground. I also often hear from folks who have run their small businesses into the ground. There are five key areas where you can think too small — and doom your business to failure.

Niche Too Small

Is your niche too small? Finding a small market to target with your business is key to success, but sometimes people narrow their niche too much. While doggy dental products could be a wonderful niche (as almost any dog owner can attest) you could even narrow your focus down to a certain type of dog (such as lap dogs) but going for one specific breed would be taking it too far.

Target Market Too Small

Is your target market too small? If you are looking only at one community or small geographic region then you may well doom your product to failure. It is far too easy to saturate a small market and it is far too easy for any marketing mistakes to end your campaign before it gets off the ground. In today’s economy with the availability of global marketing you need to think big when you are planning your target market.

Budget Too Small

Is your budget too small? You don’t need a million dollar advertising budget but you should have some seed money to get your business and its marketing campaign off the ground. It is possible to build a business from nothing but it is also a lot more difficult and you might find yourself making some mistakes that cost you a lot more down the road than putting a little money up front.

A Low Cost Merchant Account

Thursday, September 23rd, 2010

If you are new to the business world, you may believe that a low cost merchant account is beyond reach. You might reason that every dollar of profit you make should be funneled right back into the business’ products or services rather than into an account that facilitates electronic payment processing. But a merchant account may be the very asset your business needs in order to achieve the growth you want to see. By providing your customers with alternative payment options to cash and check, you are inviting them to spend more and pay according to their preferred method, since research shows more consumers are choosing to pay by credit card than any other means.

A low cost merchant account can help your business grow by enhancing your marketing plan. When the word gets out that your company offers electronic payment services like credit card swiping, telephone dial-up, and Internet Website payment options, customers will be impressed and may be more likely to check out your various options to see for themselves how easy you have made it for them to shop with your company. Naturally, you don’t have to offer all these options at once. But you can start by getting approved for merchant account services and then setting up one type of credit payment option to see how customers respond. If all goes according to plan and growth follows the expected trend, you may decide to add another option to further expedite payment procedures.

Your low cost merchant account can put a terminal-printer on your checkout counter to help your cashier process credit payments in addition to making change for cash payments and getting the manager’s check approval. When customers know that you accept credit cards, they may be more likely to spend more than they would have otherwise. They might even buy gift cards or novelty items in the checkout line. If you deliver goods or services with an appliance installation service, for example, you can buy or lease a wireless credit card processor that can go wherever you do for point-of-sale processing. You don’t have to worry about statements that won’t get paid or billing customers each month for the next year. A credit card sale can finalize the account to the satisfaction of both your client and you.

When you are ready to grow your business to the next level, with a low cost merchant account, you can apply for digital credit card processing by installing a telephone credit payment service. This will allow customers to call in at any time and key in their credit card account number for payments without the aid of a customer service representative. Then you can add a company Website with a credit-processing feature where customers can order services or supplies and pay on the spot with a credit card.

Foreign Currency

Wednesday, September 22nd, 2010

A couple days ago, a friend of mine asked about the current euro us dollar exchange rate to me. At the moment, I didn’t know the current euro us dollar exchange rate so I could not give him a good answer but I tried to ask him the reason why he suddenly asked me about euro us dollar exchange rate. He answered me that the reason why he wanted to know the current euro us dollar exchange rate is because he wanted to make investment in foreign exchange. He also said that euro and us dollar was not the only foreign exchanges he wanted to invest but there are a couple of other foreign currencies that he was interested to make investment in such as sterling and Japan Yen.

When my friend talked about his plan to invest in foreign currency, I became interested to learn how to invest in foreign currency. I started to learn and find some articles about foreign currency investment and the first thing I need to do is to find the current exchange rate for some currencies. At that time I tried to search for euro sterling exchange rate as both are the highest currencies from Europe region. Actually it is not difficult to find the exchange rate of euro to sterling since the search engine can help me with that so I didn’t face any problems in searching for euro sterling exchange rate on the internet.
